Mill Farm Glamping, Devizes, Wedding - Lizzie & Matt
WHAT A WEDDING! I don't even know where to begin because everything about this wedding excites me & similar to my previous blog, it's the kind of wedding I love most - a party!
Lizzie & Matt requested more documentary style photos & I think this really suited their laid back, boho styled day. There was so much happening at all times which meant there was always something to shoot, which is perfect for this style of photography. Obviously a few moments were posed but as I always say, this has to be the case if you want the best out of your photographs.
As I photographed this wedding alone it was very convenient that Lizzie's parents house is directly opposite the pub where all the groomsmen & other guests were meeting before the ceremony, meaning I could happily run across the road between the two. Both Lizzie & Matt are actors which meant a lot of their friends are also, so as soon as I arrived I could sense the FABULOUS eccentricity in the air & knew pretty much straight away that it was going to be an extremely fun day.
It was lovely walking up to the church with the girls & seeing the locals waiting outside. The church was very small but incredibly cute which meant for a really moving & intimate service. Due to Lizzie & Matt's profession it meant a lot of talented humans were in the church, one of them being their friend who played the violin during the signing of the register. It was AMAZING! After the ceremony, Chris from their venue Mill Farm Glamping was waiting outside with a little tractor covered in balloons ready to drive them back. This is my first of many compliments to Chris / the venue who's service was incredibly accommodating throughout, which I assume made Lizzie & Matt feel very special. I mean, escorting them back from the church?! Just brilliant...
Arriving at Mill Farm was a delight & I was so excited. The DJ was already playing in one of the Tipi's by Buffalo Tipi, the second Tipi was decorated beautifully & drinks were at the ready. The drinks were unlimited & guests could just help themselves from the wheelbarrows all day & night! We were very lucky with the gorgeous weather so everyone could soak up the sun on the hay bales & in the surrounding field, but the highlight during the drinks reception was definitely when Chris walked a Donkey over & Lizzie climbed on & went for a little stroll, shortly followed by a few very excited guests. The day got better & better, there was never a dull moment. All the speeches were fantastic & hilarious, which I think came naturally due to their professions. After the yummy meal by Vaughan's Kitchen, an ice cream van arrived, followed by cocktail makers & a glitter body artist who covered pretty much everyone's face in glitter. I think towards the end everyone was getting involved & it became more freestyle!
I loved that this wedding had no rules & broke every single wedding tradition which was not only down to the bride & groom, but this fabulous venue. They didn't get announced into the tipi, they didn't cut the cake & their first dance was a rave to Eminem's 'Lose Yourself' - which was so hysterically funny & brilliant. I did get squashed though...
There is no right or wrong for how a wedding should be. The right way is your way & this was definitely Lizzie & Matt's way, & it certainly paid off as I don't think I have ever seen so much fun had throughout, I honestly didn't want to leave & it was a big drive home! So they need a round of applause for hosting a blooming good party & their guests were very lucky to be a part of it - as was I!
